Jessie Trofe, Licensed Professional Counselor

How is your nervous system responding to change and the noise around you?

Are your limiting beliefs leading to feeling stuck and anxious?

I help people challenge negative self-talk, transform unhealthy patterns and behaviors, and create a life that is in alignment with their highest values.

How I Can Help You

My approach honors and integrates four therapeutic tenets: therapeutic alliance, mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Mindfulness

Mindfulness

Breathwork, meditation and grounding techniques are taught and practiced in session and are used as a way to help clients feel less anxious and more hopeful and empowered.

Talking about why we feel anxious, depressed, stuck or stressed can often feel like a weight has been lifted, but sometimes it can also evoke these very feelings we wish to escape. In order to move through these powerful emotions, it is helpful to have tools to help us tolerate these "growing pains."

Teaching and developing healthy coping skills with clients provide powerful tools to use within our sessions, but more importantly, in everyday life. I draw from my yoga teacher training experience and personal meditation practice to integrate mindfulness concepts.

Therapeutic Alliance

Therapeutic Alliance

Numerous research studies suggest that the most powerful predictor for a client's treatment success in therapy is the strength of the relationship with their counselor.

Not the theoretical approach of the therapist, not their certifications, not the number of plaques hanging from their walls. It's about the quality of the relationship, the alliance, that is formed between counselor and client.

Therefore, our goal is to first build a solid foundation for therapy by strengthening our connection, our alliance. We will explore what inspired you to seek counseling, what feelings, thoughts and behaviors you have been trying to cope with and co-create meaningful goals to work toward together.

I will strive to listen with compassion, seeking to better understand your experience and support you on your path toward healing and growth.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is based on the theory that thoughts, feelings and behaviors are all interconnected and impact one another.

Thoughts are energy and have the power to impact the way we feel and thus, the way we respond to our feelings (our actions). For example, if we think "It's never going to get better", we most likely will feel hopeless and depressed, and therefore we then might try to cope with these negative feelings in an unhealthy way by binge eating.

When we challenge beliefs that are negative and limiting, we are able to replace these with positive and hopeful thoughts. This then positively affects the way we feel, leading us to act in a more self-affirming and healthy way.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a powerful tool for empowering clients to think, feel and act in ways that support their goals.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

This powerful therapeutic technique is one of the leading ways to treat trauma, anxiety and depression.

This process uses bilateral stimulation of the brain facilitated by the therapist, which inspires accelerated information processing. This allows clients to address past events in their life that continue to affect them, and to lower the disturbance level and ultimately change the negative belief that was associated with the event.
